Method

How we calculate

One algorithm for every breed: no sponsors, no promoted breeds.

Step 1

Filter

We remove breeds that break a strict condition: your size limit, young children, budget, and category 2 if you don't want the formalities.

Step 2

Score

We compare each answer with the breed profile. Starred questions weigh more, and a critical mismatch caps the score at "partial match".

Step 3

Explain

For every breed we show why it fits and what to watch for, in plain words.

Frequently asked questions

The quiz compares your lifestyle with the typical profile of each breed in our guide. Breed explains only about 9% of an individual dog's behaviour (Morrill et al., 2022), so the result shows tendencies, not guarantees.
People often choose on looks, but the reasons animals are given up are about daily life: time, money, space, allergies, children (Salman et al., 1998). So we ask about the constraints you will live with every day. Photos only appear in the results.
You can star up to three questions. Starred answers weigh 1.5 times as much in the calculation.
The question is left out of the calculation. Use it whenever you are not sure.
No. Your answers are encoded in the address of the results page so you can share the link, and the calculation runs in your browser. There is no account and nothing is stored on the server.
Excluded breeds did not pass a strict filter (minimum child age, size limit, budget or category 2 of the Romanian OUG 55/2002) and are listed separately with the reason.
