Cookie Policy
Last updated: October 9, 2026
In short: the platform keeps a handful of strictly necessary values in your browser to work properly (language, session, preferences) — no cookies involved. The map can centre on your approximate city (derived from your IP address by our own server), and on your exact position only if you press the locate button and allow access in your browser. On top of that, if you choose Accept in the banner shown on your first visit, we use Google Analytics (via Google Tag Manager) to understand how the site is used — never for advertising. If you choose Reject, your browser never contacts Google at all. You can change your choice anytime from the "Cookie settings" link in the footer.
1About this policy
This page explains what the platform stores in your browser, why, for how long, and what happens depending on whether you accept or reject analytics in the cookie banner. It's operated by [Denumire completă societate] S.R.L. (“we”, “us”, “the Operator”) and sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which describes in full how we handle personal data. Any questions, write to [contact@domeniul-tau.ro].
2Cookies and similar technologies
A cookie is a small text file a website saves in your browser, which your browser then sends back with every subsequent request. Alongside cookies sit technologies with much the same effect — localStorage and sessionStorage — which let a site keep information in your browser without attaching it to network requests.
The law (Article 5(3) of Directive 2002/58/EC, transposed into Romanian law by Article 4(5) of Law no. 506/2004) treats all of these the same way: consent is required for any of them, except where they're strictly necessary to provide the service the user asked for. The analytics described below doesn't qualify for that exception, which is why we ask for your explicit consent before switching it on.
3What we actually use
There are two categories: what's strictly necessary and always runs, and what only runs with your consent.
3.1 Strictly necessary, in sessionStorage (your browser tab's memory — cleared automatically when you close the tab) — six values:
- Your chosen language (pref_lang) — so you don't have to pick it again on every page.
- Map view mode (mapFocusMode, mapExpanded) — remembers whether you expanded the map to full screen or changed its view.
- Display preferences (app_carousel_settings) — technical settings for the carousel on the home page.
- Your approximate city (user_detected_location_v5) — saved automatically, at city level only; the city is derived from your IP address by our hosting provider and used to centre the map. No permission prompt is shown, and it is deleted when you close the tab.
- Your exact position (pm_last_fix_v1) — saved only after you press "Arată locația mea" ("Show my location") and allow access in your browser. It stays in your tab, is never sent to our servers, and is deleted when you close the tab.
3.2 Strictly necessary, in localStorage (survive closing the tab or the browser) — two values:
- Your sign-in session (sb-…-auth-token) — keeps you logged in, including if you open the platform in another tab or come back later. Without it you couldn't stay signed in between visits.
- Your choice from the cookie banner (zp-consent-v1) — accept or reject for analytics, plus when you chose — precisely so we don't have to ask you again on every visit.
3.3 Analytics — only if you choose Accept. If you press Accept in the banner shown on your first visit, Google Tag Manager loads and activates Google Analytics 4. It sets two cookies from Google in your browser:
- _ga — distinguishes visitors, so repeat visits count correctly in our statistics;
- _ga_BCEDQXLN67 — keeps track of your current Google Analytics session state.
We use this analytics purely to understand which pages are visited and how often — never for advertising, remarketing, or building an advertising profile about you. If you press Reject, neither cookie is ever set and your browser doesn't contact Google's servers at all.
4How the consent banner works
On your first visit, the banner asks you to choose between Accept and Reject for analytics — both options carry the same visual weight, with nothing preselected or artificially highlighted. Your choice is respected from the very first second: we implement Google Consent Mode v2, in "Basic" mode, meaning Google Tag Manager isn't contacted at all until you press Accept — we don't send even an anonymous request to Google before you've decided.
If you change your choice, we immediately update the signal we send to Google (consent granted or withdrawn) — withdrawing doesn't delete cookies already set in your browser, but it stops any further data collection through Google Analytics.
5How long it lasts
Values in sessionStorage (section 3.1), including your approximate city and exact position, only exist for the life of the browser tab: they're deleted automatically when you close the tab or window. Values in localStorage (section 3.2) last longer: your sign-in session refreshes automatically while you're active and disappears when you log out or clear the site's data in your browser; your consent choice stays saved until you change it yourself or clear that same data. If you accepted analytics, Google Analytics's cookies expire roughly 2 years after your last visit (_ga, _ga_BCEDQXLN67) — a term set by Google, not by us.
6Third-party services
Some parts of the platform are delivered by third parties, which may use their own storage mechanisms that we don't control:
- Google Analytics, via Google Tag Manager — active only if you accepted analytics (section 3.3); see Google's privacy policy for how Google processes this data;
- OpenStreetMap Foundation — map tiles are loaded from OpenStreetMap's servers, which see your IP address like any image server and may keep technical delivery data in your browser cache. Their search service (Nominatim) receives the name of your city, to frame the map, and your exact coordinates only when you press the locate button, to show your street address;
- our hosting provider (Vercel) — may use technical cookies for load balancing and infrastructure-level security, and derives your approximate city from your IP address; we do not store it on our servers;
- the websites of listed businesses — once you follow a link off the platform, that site's cookie policy applies, not ours.
We embed no social buttons, tracking pixels or ad networks, and Google Analytics only ever runs with your explicit consent.
7How to control what's stored
You're fully in control:
- the "Cookie settings" link in every page's footer reopens the banner at any time, so you can change your analytics choice;
- closing the tab immediately clears the values in section 3.1, including both location values — those in section 3.2 (your sign-in session, your consent choice) stay until you log out or clear the site's data in your browser;
- your browser settings let you delete site data at any time (“Clear browsing data”, “Cookies and site data”), including Google Analytics's cookies, your sign-in session and your consent choice, or block storage entirely;
- private/incognito browsing keeps nothing once you close the window;
- location access can be revoked at any time in your browser's site permission settings;
- you can also install the official Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, which works on any site using this tool.
Do bear in mind that blocking local storage outright will stop you signing in and will reset your language and preferences on every page — the platform will still work, but far less comfortably. Rejecting analytics, on the other hand, has no visible effect on how the platform works.
8Your data and your rights
The values in sections 3.1 and 3.2 stay in your browser and don't build a profile of you. If you accepted analytics, Google Analytics processes aggregate data about the pages visited and, under Google's own privacy policy, may also process your IP address. The personal data we do process directly — your account, listings, reviews and technical logs — is set out in our Privacy Policy, along with the legal bases, retention periods and the rights the GDPR gives you: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability, and the right to complain to the Romanian National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing (dataprotection.ro).
9Changes to this policy
We'll update this page whenever what we store in your browser changes, or whenever we change the analytics or marketing tools we use. Any new technology that requires consent will be presented to you through a banner before it's switched on — never silently.
