Bucharest/ Bird Breeders
Bird Breeders covers breeders of parrots, canaries, budgerigars, parakeets and other cage and aviary species across Romania. A responsible bird breeder raises the young fed naturally by their parents or, where necessary, with correctly done hand-feeding, socialises the young with people, keeps line records to avoid inbreeding, provides information on sex, age and any identification rings, and honestly explains the species' real requirements.
You choose a bird breeder when you want a healthy bird, used to people, and correct information about how long it lives, how much space it needs, how much noise it makes, and what diet and environmental enrichment it requires. Many parrot species live for decades and are very intelligent and loud; they are a serious commitment, not a spur-of-the-moment purchase.
When you assess a breeder, ask to see the conditions the birds are kept in, the size and cleanliness of the aviaries, the variety of food and the state of the adults' plumage. Ask at what age they release the young and whether they are fully weaned, what diet they recommend, whether they provide a health certificate or an avian vet check, and what support they give after purchase. Avoid sources that sell unweaned young to inexperienced buyers or keep birds in tiny, dirty cages.
Prepare the right cage or aviary, food, and a check with a vet experienced in birds in the first days. Be patient with settling in, birds need time and routine.
Ask explicitly whether the young bird is parent-raised or hand-fed and, if hand-fed, who does it and with what experience, because incorrect hand-feeding causes serious health problems. Ask to hear and see the bird eating on its own before you take it.
Use this directory to find bird breeders in your area, compare the information and reviews, and open each one's page for contact details and reviews before getting in touch, and check in advance whether the species you want has legal keeping or ringing requirements.
